Diploma Course

One-year Botanical Illustration course at Kingston Maurward, Dorchester, Dorset, with Sally Pinhey. From 9am-1.30pm on Fridays, commencing September. Also 5-day painting holidays in Normandy Natural Park. Contact sallypinhey@tiscali.co.uk.

12 November 2011 - Workshop with David Lewry on Combining the use of watercolour and coloured pencils.

To be held at Dartington, near Totnes. David teaches in Bedford and holds a Silver medal from the RHS. His work may be seen on www.davidart.co.uk. Details from mrpulver@tiscali.co.uk

25 February 2012 - Talk and demonstration with Sara Rittershausen of Burnham Nurseries on growing and caring for orchids.

At the Kenn Centre, Kennford, near Exeter, Devon. In the afternoon, time for painting. Sylvia Sroka will be with us with some of her orchid paintings and demonstration pieces and will be able to help and guide us with our own orchid painting, answering queries and general concerns about painting them.

10 March 2012 - Botany for Artists

Taster day with Sally Pinhey and Margaret Tebbs at Wimborne Community Learning and Resource Centre, Dorset.  The full course of ten sessions will start in September 2012. Gain a better understanding of plants to inform your botanical illustration, and develop and refine illustration techniques appropriate to botanical subjects. 28 April 2012 - Susan Hillier on Professionalism

At West Buckland, Somerset. Susan will talk on the reality of life as a professional artist, with some tips and exercises to encourage a professional approach to our work.

16 June 2012 - AGM with a talk by our President, Professor Sir Ghillean Prance, on 'Some botanical artists I have known'.

At Barrington, Somerset, followed by a tour of the gardens at Barrington Court in the afternoon. The last tour we had was after a very late spring and all growth was behind, but we should be luckier this time.

21 July 2012 - Rosie Martin workshop on Working with a Limited Palette.

At Longdown Village Hall, near Exeter, Devon.

8 September 2012 - a visit to Bristol Botanic Gardens.

We will be given a guided tour of the gardens and plant houses by one of their guides.

13 October 2012 - Ron Karley at Musbury Village Hall, near Axminster

Ron is an expert in his field and will give us a workshop day on mushrooms and fungi, taling about the various types and showing us how he goes about painting his subject.
